My Journey,
Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming but have lived most of my life in Florida. I am proud to call Sarasota home for the past 7 years and share life with my husband, daughter and a clumsy, sweet doodle.
For undergrad, I went to school at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, majoring in Psychology. I continued part time at Florida Atlantic University juggling being pregnant, becoming a Mommy and working full time until I graduated with my Masters in Social Work.
Counseling friends and family was a lifelong passion and I was determined to become licensed so that I could work with so many others in a professional setting. I have a love for providing therapy for individuals of different ages, demographics and different walks of life.
While in my internship in school I had the pleasure to work with young mothers and children at risk. I also worked with youth involved in programs with the state who had committed small crimes. I then ventured into a habilitation center where I worked with adults who were mentally, physically or emotionally challenged. After grad school I have worked in the school environment providing therapy to at risk youth and their families and also with hospice and home bound individuals. While doing this all I have maintained my other career in the entertainment industry as an actor/model. I do this all for a purpose and a balance. Whether I am talking about life and helping someone from the makeup chair or at my office with a couple in search of better communication skills, everyone I meet just wants to be valued and understood. I appreciate all of the different arenas I work in as it gives me a very well rounded vision of life. I have helped an actor get over stage fright and an elderly woman cope with end of life decision on the same day. In the end I have realized there are three distinct ways I counsel all of my clients:
Helping my clients strengthen their love for themselves and strengthen their relationships with the people who matter the most to them
Creating an atmosphere of emotional safety where my clients feel fully heard, valued and understood
Integrating psychology research and evidence-based practices into my natural conversation style approach.
